Khutbah at Masjid al-Nabawi on Ressurection – Return Journey to the Hereafter

Dr Mozammel Haque

After the dry season, Allah sends rain as a sign of His Mercy. The earth becomes green and nice as a result of the rain Allah sends. Look at the Sign of Allah’s Mercy: How Allah gives life on earth and He is the only Life-Giver and Facilitator. These are the signs of our resurrection on the Day of Judgement. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala draws our attention that you see the earth like dead then when the rain comes everything becomes blossom and everything enjoys life. Similarly, Allah is going to resurrect the whole humanity once they have died in this earth. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that like Allah grows the vegetation from earth; similarly Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala is going to resurrect and recreate the whole humanity after their death; like the seasonal changes – like season we see in our own eyes, said Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulrahman bin Al-Baijan, Imam of the Masjid al-Nabawi on 25 December 2020 in his Friday Khutbah on Resurrection.

Imam of the Masjid al-Nabawi said, “The best book is the Book of Allah and the best guidance or role model is the role model of Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  and the wrong things are those who are away from the Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam. That is the misguidance and it ends up in fire. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that anybody who commit an atom worth of goodness or bad activity, he will see the consequence of his own actions. So we should be careful about what we do in good and what we do which are harmful to others.”

Sheikh al-Baijan said, “All the communities of the believers, we know and understand that change is constant in this world and everything is prone to change from one situation to another. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that anything, everything is going to perish except Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala – the Lord.”

The Imam of the Masjid al-Nabawi mentioned, “Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala changes and turns the situation from one situation to another, as Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that after the dry season, Allah sends rain as a sign of His Mercy. The earth becomes green and nice as a result of the rain Allah sends. So look at the Sign of Allah’s Mercy: How Allah gives life on earth and He is the only Life-Giver and Facilitator. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala draws our attention that Allah is the One Who sends the rain and gives life to everything and anything and so look at the life around you and be thankful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala.”

Sheikh al-Baijan said, “All these are the signs of our resurrection on the Day of Judgement. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala draws our attention that you see the earth like dead then when the rain comes everything becomes blossom and everything enjoys life. Similarly, Allah is going to resurrect the whole humanity once they have died in this earth. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that like Allah grows the vegetation from earth; similarly Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala is going to resurrect and recreate the whole humanity after their death; like the seasonal changes – like season we see in our own eyes.”

Sheikh al-Baijan said, “with spring we see everything blossom and at winter time and other time – autumn time, everything starts to degrade and descend. So our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam has said that due to short days and nights of winter, fasting during winter months is like an abundance from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala, special favours and concessions from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala.”

The Imam of the Masjid al-Nabawi also mentioned another thing during winter. He said, “at the time of winter, when we use cold water while our wadu and other cleanliness activities, then Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala grant us extra rewards. So our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam said that despite the coldness and other displeasable things, if you do the complete wadu and do the prayer, that is the actual observance of the prayer and it is the highest rewardable activities.

Sheikh Al-Baijan mentioned about Sadaqah. He said, “Other good deeds are also recorded for us like sadaqah - save us from the torment or accidents or bad situations in our life. Sadaqah is our protection from our accidents or anything else.”

Full Khutbah at Masjid al-Nabawi

Followings are the full khutbah at the Masjid al-Nabawi delivered by Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulrahman bin al-Baijan on 25 December 2020, [rendered into English by Mufti Barkatullah @ Islam Channel, UK]

“Praise be to Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala, Lord of the Universe, Day and Night, any time, and all the time and all the types of different places. All praise belongs to Allah. We seek refuge and safety from the bad effects of all our deeds and I bear witness that Allah is Alone and there is no one associate of Him and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah who conveyed the Message and fulfil all the duties. May Allah send peace and blessings on him. Peace be upon Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam and his companions and all the followers.

“The best book is the Book of Allah and the best guidance or role model is the role model of Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  and the wrong things are those who are away from the Sunnah of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam. That is the misguidance and it ends up in fire. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that anybody who commit an atom worth of goodness or bad activity, he will see the consequence of his own actions. So we should be careful about what we do in good and what we do which are harmful to others.

“All the communities of the believers, we know and understand that change is constant in this world and everything is prone to change from one situation to another. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that anything, everything is going to perish except Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala – the Lord.

“Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala changes and turns the situation from one situation to another, as Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that after the dry season, Allah sends rain as a sign of His Mercy. The earth becomes green and nice as a result of the rain Allah sends. So look at the Sign of Allah’s Mercy: How Allah gives life on earth and He is the only Life-Giver and Facilitator. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala draws our attention that Allah is the One Who sends the rain and gives life to everything and anything and so look at the life around you and be thankful to Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala.

“All these are the signs of our resurrection on the Day of Judgement. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala draws our attention that you see the earth like dead then when the rain comes everything becomes blossom and everything enjoys life. Similarly, Allah is going to resurrect the whole humanity once they have died in this earth. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that like Allah grows the vegetation from earth; similarly Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala is going to resurrect and recreate the whole humanity after their death; like the seasonal changes – like season we see in our own eyes.

“The spring season is one season and the autumn season is also another season we see that, with spring we see everything blossom and at winter time and other time – autumn time, everything starts to degrade and descend. So our Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam has said that due to short days and nights days of winter, fasting during winter months is like an abundance from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala, special favours and concessions from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala.

“But another thing is that at the time of winter, when we use cold water while our wadu and other cleanliness activities, then Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala grant us extra rewards. So our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam said that despite the coldness and other displeasable things, if you do the complete wadu and do the prayer, that is the actual observance of the prayer and it is the highest rewardable activities. Other good deeds are also recorded for us like sadaqah -  save us from the torment or accidents or bad situations in our life. Sadaqah is our protection from our accidents or anything else.

“Let us hope that Allah gives us barakah and growth what we have heard from the Qur’an, we seek forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala. He is the Only who can forgive all our sins.

Second Half

“All praise belongs to Allah Whose Order is prevalence in this world and Allah’s Orders are being carried out by the Angels and others in this universe.

“Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam who is His Messenger and the servant of Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala. But despite all the hardships and the hard working we faced the Shari’ah has got some discount and concessions for those people who find difficult to doing difficult time; like washing feet for wadu in the winter time is hard and inconvenient. So Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala through His Messenger gives to wiping over socks and leather socks is among the kindness of the Shari’ah to allow.

“If wrong information is given, then people caused injury and hardships by not knowing the Shari’ah, they will be held responsible as Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  says that those who gave Fatwah for a person to wash with cold and to have a bath with cold water during winter time, those who say  we cannot find any rukshah – any respite except to do.

“Another incident is that if they do not know any possibility of Tayammum and dry bath and dry ablution, those people who dispense information which leads to other  people having harmful effect and derogation of their health and wealth, then they are responsible. As Prophet Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  said if you cause someone to be dead and because of wrong information you will be held responsible.

“Observing the Shari’ah in things which are possible within our reach and within our capacity is required but things which are beyond our control, or things which we cannot bear it, one is excused from observing the Commandments. Similarly, we should save ourselves from doing lewd things in public places which warrant other peoples curse, like urinating yourselves in public places or in open space on the way. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that if you pay thankful to Allah, then Allah will grant you more.

Dua and Supplication

“So let us seek forgiveness and respite from Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala from all our shortcomings and sins. As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says if you seek forgiveness Allah will send you rain and give you respite. So O Allah, we are seeking forgiveness and expiation of all our sins.

“O Allah, you are Independent and we are dependent on You. O Allah, don’t make us among the people who are pessimists. O Allah, send us rain, nice rain and useful rain and no harmful rain, to revive the country, to revive the land and to revive the earth with the life. O Allah, don’t give us hardship or anything which is unbearable for us. O Allah, have Mercy on the country and the people and the animals and send us rain. O Allah, give us the vegetation. O Allah, send us the rain as a Sign of Your Mercy.

“O Allah, empower us to remain peaceful and obedient to You. O Allah, You are the Most Kind and the Most Merciful. O Allah, save us from the torments of this world and the torments on the Day of Judgement. O Allah, give Tawfiq, empower our rulers, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his associates and everyone to work for the betterment of the people and the betterment of the country.

“Let us send peace and blessings on Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  . As Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala says that Allah and His Angels do the same thing. O believers, send peace and blessings on Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihey Wa Sallam  . Let us pray that O Allah, give salutations to Muhammad and his family, his followers like You have sent peace and blessings on Ibrahim and his followers.  O Allah, be pleased with all the Khulafae Rashedeen Abu Bakr Omar, Osman and Ali R.A. and all the companions and all the followers till the Day of Judgement. And have Mercy on us also. You are the Most Merciful.”
